Head of the A320 Family Paintshop, Hamburg


Ralph Maurer was appointed Head of the A320 Family Paintshop in Hamburg on the 1st of June, 2010. He started his career as a Research Assistant at the Institute of Aircraft Design of University of Stuttgart, while also working in an engineering office. He managed a student team building an experimental airship. He then joined CargoLifter Development GmbH in 1998 as a development engineer, mainly responsible for the development of the envelope of the projected heavy load carrying airship. He then became the Head of Design, and was also responsible for the definition of the development processes leading to the company approval as an ‘Approved Design Organisation’ by the airworthiness authorities.


In 2000, Mr. Maurer was appointed Director of Development, responsible for all development activities, and in 2001 became the Managing Director of Cargolifter Development GmbH, responsible for all development, production and maintenance activities, as well as the selection, contracting and management of major aerospace suppliers.


In 2003, Mr. Maurer joined Airbus, for the development of systems for the A380. He then was active in different engineering and programme management activities, mainly on the A380 until transferring to the A320 Family programme.


Mr. Maurer graduated from the University of Stuttgart with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He was born in 1965 in Sydney, Australia.
