Airbus Vice President Emerging of Technologies & Concepts

Peter Sander was appointed Airbus’ Vice President of Emerging Technologies & Concepts in October 2010. He has acquired 34 years of experience in the aerospace industry, with a wide range of different responsibilities.

Starting in 1981 as an assistant of the sheet metal manufacturing management in Bremen, he has held various positions in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, and sheet metal part production.

In 1987 Peter led “Manufacturing EngineeringAssemblies and Tools Design and Production” in Bremen, followed by “CFRP Panel Production” at the Stade site. Consequently, he became the head of the “Sheet Metal Centre” in Bremen and then led the “A380 Structure Assembly and Equipping” in Hamburg.

In October 2010 he joined a small European team whose mission was to set up the Airbus Innovation Cell. 2012 this organisation developed into an international team looking for emerging technologies and concepts on a global scale.

In December 2015 Peter was among the finalists of the “Deutscher Zukunftspreis 2015”, the German Federal President’s award for technology and innovation, with an “Additive Layer Manufacturing” project.
