Two days after the earthquake that struck Nepal, the Pleiades satellites, developed by CNES, have captured an image of the capital city, Kathmandu.

The satellites were tasked after the International Charter on Space and Major Disasters, co-founded in 2000 by CNES and the European Space Agency (ESA), was called into action. This image and subsequent imagery will be used to locate and map the affected areas, providing valuable support for the relief effort on the ground.
